Caldwell County is a county located in Texas, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The population of the county was 32194 as per the 2000 census data. Its population was estimated at 36899 in July 2008, making it the 79th most populous county in Texas. The county spans an area of 547.41 square miles (1417.79 square kilometre), of which, 545.73 square miles (1413.43 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.69 square miles (4.38 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 16th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Texas.
