Caldwell County is a United States county located in the United States of North Carolina. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 77415 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 80059, It is North Carolina's 33rd most populous county. It is spread over 474.29 miē (1228.41 kmē), of which, 471.6 square miles (1221.44 kmē ) of it is land and 2.7 square miles (6.99 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 52nd largest by total area among North Carolina's county.

In the county Age distribution was 23.4% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 30.5% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 102.5 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 104.8 females. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 80059, The racial makeup of the county was 74457 White, 4289 Black or African American, 212 American Indian, 413 Asian, 44 Native Hawaiian, and 644 from two or more races.
