Caldwell County is a county located in Kentucky, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. It is home to over 13060 people (2000 census). Its population was estimated at 12866 in July 2008, It is the 33rd smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It is spread over 348.18 square miles (901.78 sq km), of which, 346.98 square miles (898.67 sq km ) of it is land and 1.2 square miles (3.11 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 49th largest by total area in Kentucky.

The population density was 37.6 people per square mile (14.52/kmē), it is the 29th least populated county in terms of population density. There were 6126 housing units at an average density of 17.7 per square mile (6.83/kmē). The average household size was 2.36 persons, and the average family size was 2.85 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 22.4% under the age of 18, 7% from 18 to 24, 26.3% from 25 to 44, 26.3% from 45 to 64, and 18% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.9 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 12866, The racial makeup of the county was 93.48% White, 5.49% Black or African American, 0.17% American Indian, 0.16% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 0.69% from two or more races.
