Cairo City is a United States city located in the Grady County, Georgia, United States. The population of the city was 9239 as per the 2000 census data. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 9809, It is the 93rd most populous in the U.S. state of Georgia. The city encompasses an area of 9.37 sq mi (24.27 square kilometre ), of which, 9.31 square miles (24.11 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Georgia's 88th largest by total area.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 9239 residents, 3465 households, and 2455 families in the city. The population density was 992 people per square mile (383.01/kmē), it is Georgia's 140th most densely populated city.
