Cabarrus County is a United States county located in the United States of North Carolina. It is home to over 131063 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 168740, giving it the 11th largest population among North Carolina's county. It is spread over 364.98 mi˛ (945.29 square kilometre), of which, 364.39 square miles (943.77 square kilometre ) of it is land and 0.59 square miles (1.53 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 26th smallest by total area in North Carolina.

As of the census of 2000, there were 131063 people in the county, organized into 49519 households, and 36526 families living in the county. The population density was 359.7 people per square mile (138.88/km˛), giving it the ninth most densely populated county among the North Carolina. There were 52848 housing units at an average density of 145 per square mile (55.98/km˛). The average household size was 2.6 and the average family size was 3.03. In the county the population was spread out, with 25.8% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 32.5% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 11.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.1 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 168740, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 137997 White, 25438 Black or African American, 656 American Indian, 2746 Asian, 33 Native Hawaiian, and 1870 from two or more races.
