Butts County, Georgia is a county located in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 19522 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 24423, It is Georgia's 73rd most populous county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 190.01 miē (492.12 kmē), of which, 186.61 square miles (483.32 kmē) of it is land and 3.4 square miles (8.81 kmē) of it is water, it is the 16th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Georgia.

According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 24423, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 72.12% White, 26.04% Black or African American, 0.4% American Indian, 0.41% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 1.02% from two or more races.
