Butler County is a one of the county from Kentucky's 120 counties, located in Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 13010 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 13276, making it the 35th least populous county in Kentucky. Its area is just over 431.52 square miles (1117.63 square kilometre), of which, 428.08 square miles (1108.72 square kilometre) of it is land and 3.44 square miles (8.91 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Kentucky's 26th largest county by total area.

The population's age distribution was 25.3% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 12.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.2 males. Its population was estimated at 13276 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 97.6% White, 1.15% Black or African American, 0.23% American Indian, 0.24% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.78% from two or more races.
