As per the 2000 census, census designated place has a population of 7180 inhabitants. It is the 61st most populous in the U.S. state of South Carolina. It has total area of 11.14 square miles (28.85 square kilometre), of which, 11.04 square miles (28.59 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.11 square miles (0.28 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 34th largest by total area in South Carolina.
