Burke County is a one of the county from North Carolina's 100 counties, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. It is home to over 89148 people (2000 census). Its population was estimated at 89361 in July 2008, It is the 31st most populous county in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It has total area of 514.89 sq mi (1333.56 kmē), of which, 506.72 square miles (1312.4 kmē) of it is land and 8.17 square miles (21.16 kmē) of it is water, it is the 46th largest by area in the U.S. state of North Carolina.
