Burien City is one of the city of King County, Washington, located towards the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 31881. The July 2008 population estimate is 31316, making it Washington's 29th largest. The city encompasses an area of 13.22 square miles (34.24 kmē ), of which, 7.44 square miles (19.27 kmē) of it is land and 5.79 square miles (15 kmē) of it is water, making it Washington's 54th largest by total area. It is ranks 12 in the size of its inland waterways in Washington.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 31881 people, 13399 households, and 8064 families residing in the city. The population density was 4287 people per square mile (1655.22/kmē), it would be the 15th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Washington. There were 13898 housing units at an average density of 1868 per square mile (721.24/kmē). The average household size was 2.36 people, and the average family size was 2.98 people.
