The July 2008 population estimate is 4275, It is 182nd most populous in North Carolina. It covers total area of 3.45 square miles (8.94 sq km), of which, 3.43 square miles (8.88 sq km) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 sq km) of it is water, it is the 251st largest in terms of geographical size.
