It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 67761, It is the 32nd largest county by population in the U.S. state of Georgia. It covers total area of 688.84 miē (1784.09 kmē), of which, 682.07 square miles (1766.55 kmē) of it is land and 6.77 square miles (17.53 kmē) of it is water, it is the eighth largest in terms of geographical size.
