Buffalo City is a city located in Erie County, New York, in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. The population of the city was 292648 as per the 2000 census data. Its population was estimated at 270919 in July 2008, It is second most populous in New York. The city extends throughout a territory of 52.51 mi˛ (136 sq km ), of which, 40.61 square miles (105.18 sq km) of it is land and 11.9 square miles (30.82 sq km) of it is water, making it the third largest by size in New York. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in New York.

The population density was 7205.8 people per square mile (2782.17/km˛), giving it the 60th most densely populated city among the New York.
