Buena Vista County is a county located in the United States of Iowa. The county has a population of 20411 as per the 2000 census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 19702, It is the 36th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Iowa. The county spans an area of 580.07 square miles (1502.37 kmē), of which, 574.78 square miles (1488.67 kmē) of it is land and 5.28 square miles (13.68 kmē) of it is water, it is the 33rd largest by area in the U.S. state of Iowa.
