Buchanan County is a county located in Iowa, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. The population of the county was 21093 as per the 2000 census data. Its population was estimated at 21032 in July 2008, It is the 29th largest in terms of population. It has total area of 573.35 miē (1484.97 kmē), of which, 571.26 square miles (1479.56 kmē) of it is land and 2.09 square miles (5.41 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 45th largest by total area in Iowa.
