Bryson City Town is one of the town of Swain County, North Carolina, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. It is home to over 1411 people (2000 census). Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 1374, giving it the 330th largest population among North Carolina. The town extends throughout a territory of 2.25 mi˛ (5.83 sq km ), of which, 2.13 square miles (5.52 sq km) of it is land and 0.12 square miles (0.31 sq km) of it is water, it is the 359th largest by area in the U.S. state of North Carolina.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 1411 people, 588 households, and 324 families residing in the town. The population density was 663.5 people per square mile (256.18/km˛), making it the 356th most densely populated town in North Carolina. There were 713 housing units at an average density of 334.7 per square mile (129.23/km˛). The average household size was 2.09 persons, and the average family size was 2.78 persons. In the town the population was spread out, with 17.6% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 24.9% from 25 to 44, 24.5% from 45 to 64, and 27.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 77.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 78.2 males. The median age is 45.8 years, The median age of males was 41.4 years, for females the median age was 50.2 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the town was 90.93% White, 1.98% Black or African American, 4.96% American Indian, 0.35% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 1.13% from two or more races and 0.64% Other races.
