Brunswick County is a United States county located in the United States of North Carolina. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 73143 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 103160, making it the 25th most populous county in North Carolina. The county encompasses an area of 1050.01 miē (2719.51 kmē ), of which, 854.79 square miles (2213.9 kmē) of it is land and 195.21 square miles (505.59 kmē) of it is water, makes it the fourth largest by total area in North Carolina. It is ranks seventh in the size of its inland waterways in North Carolina.

As of the census of 2000, there were 73143 people, 30438 households, and 22028 families living in the county. The population density was 85.6 people per square mile (33.05/kmē), it is North Carolina's 58th most densely populated county. There were 51431 housing units at an average density of 60.2 per square mile (23.24/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.38 persons, and the average family size was 2.76 persons. The population's age distribution was 21.2% under the age of 18, 7% from 18 to 24, 25.7% from 25 to 44, 29.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.9 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 103160, The racial makeup of the county was 88571 White, 12219 Black or African American, 712 American Indian, 538 Asian, 50 Native Hawaiian, and 1070 from two or more races.
