Brunswick City is one of the city of Frederick County, Maryland, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 4894. Its population was estimated at 5228 in July 2008, making it Maryland's 173rd largest. The city comprises an area of 2.13 square miles (5.52 square kilometre), of which, 2.11 square miles (5.46 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 220th largest by total area among Maryland.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4894 people in the city, organized into 1866 households, and 1307 families living in the city. The population density was 2324.3 people per square mile (897.42/kmē), it is the 144th most populated city in terms of population density. There were 1957 housing units at an average density of 927.5 per square mile (358.11/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.62 persons, and the average family size was 3.11 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 27.3% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 33.1% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 11% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.5 males. The median age was 35.1 years, The median age of males was 34.4 years, for females the median age was 35.8 years. The racial makeup of the city was 92.09% White, 5.31% Black or African American, 0.25% American Indian, 0.45% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, 1.68% from two or more races and 0.18% Other races.
