Brownsville City is a city located in Cameron County, Texas, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Brownsville City is home to 139722 inhabitants. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 175494, It is the 16th largest by population in the U.S. state of Texas. Its area is just over 83.02 sq mi (215.02 kmē), of which, 80.4 square miles (208.24 kmē) of it is land and 2.62 square miles (6.79 kmē) of it is water, it is the 19th largest by area in the U.S. state of Texas.
