The county encompasses an area of 497.77 miē (1289.22 kmē ), of which, 493.62 square miles (1278.47 kmē) of it is land and 4.15 square miles (10.75 kmē) of it is water, making it Georgia's 31st largest county by total area.

In the Brooks County, 26.9% of the population was under the age of 18, 8.9% were 18 to 24, 26.9% were 25 to 44, 22.3% were 45 to 64, and 15% who were 65 or older.
