Brooklyn Center City is a city located in the Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. As of 2000 the population was 29172. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 27402, It is the 28th largest by population in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The city has a total area of 8.34 sq mi (21.6 kmē), of which, 7.94 square miles (20.56 kmē) of it is land and 0.4 square miles (1.04 kmē) of it is water, it is the 113th largest by area in the U.S. state of Minnesota.

As of the census of 2000, there were 29172 people in the city, organized into 11430 households, and 7382 families residing in the city. The population density was 3672 people per square mile (1417.77/kmē), it is Minnesota's 18th most densely populated city. There were 11598 housing units at an average density of 1460.7 per square mile (563.98/kmē). The average household size was 2.52 persons, and the average family size was 3.11 persons.
