Brookhaven Borough is a borough located in the Delaware County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is home to over 7985 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 7886, making it Pennsylvania's 159th largest. The borough encompasses an area of 1.7 sq mi (4.4 square kilometre ), of which, 1.7 square miles (4.4 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 456th largest by total area in Pennsylvania.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7985 residents, 3476 households, and 2200 families in the borough. The population density was 4705.3 people per square mile (1816.73/kmē), making its Pennsylvania's 163rd most densely populated borough. There were 3595 housing units at an average density of 2114.7 per square mile (816.49/kmē). The average household size was 2.29 persons, and the average family size was 2.9 persons. In the borough Age distribution was 19.8% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 31.8% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 18.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 114.2 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 118.6 females. The median age was 40 years, the median age of male residents at 38.1 and the median age of female residents at 41.9. The racial or ethnic makeup of the borough was 95.64% White, 2.02% Black or African American, 0.08% American Indian, 1.24% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 0.59% from two or more races and 0.44% Other races.
