Brooke County is a United States county located in the United States of West Virginia. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Brooke County is home to 25447 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 23520 in July 2008, It is the 29th largest in terms of population. Its area is just over 92.26 sq mi (238.95 kmē), of which, 88.85 square miles (230.12 kmē) of it is land and 3.41 square miles (8.83 kmē) of it is water, makes it the second smallest by total area in West Virginia.

As of the census of 2000, there were 25447 people in the county, organized into 10396 households, and 7156 families living in the county. The population density was 286.4 people per square mile (110.58/kmē), it is West Virginia's fourth most densely populated county. There were 11150 housing units at an average density of 125.5 per square mile (48.46/kmē). The average household size was 2.36 people, and the average family size was 2.88 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 20.4% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 26% from 45 to 64, and 18.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.9 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 23520, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 22914 White, 286 Black or African American, 28 American Indian, 98 Asian, 9 Native Hawaiian, and 185 from two or more races.
