Bristol County is one of the 5 county of Rhode Island, located towards the Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. Bristol County had an official population of 50648 in 2000. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 49838, making it the least populous county in Rhode Island. The county comprises an area of 44.71 mi˛ (115.8 square kilometre), of which, 24.68 square miles (63.92 square kilometre) of it is land and 20.03 square miles (51.88 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the smallest by area in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in Rhode Island.

As of the census of 2000, there were 50648 people in the county, organized into 19033 households, and 13359 families residing in the county. The population density was 2051.8 people per square mile (792.2/km˛), it is Rhode Island's most densely populated county. There were 19881 housing units at an average density of 805.4 per square mile (310.97/km˛). The average household size was 2.52 persons, and the average family size was 3.04 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 22.9% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 16.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.5 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 49838, The racial makeup of the county was 47856 White, 589 Black or African American, 114 American Indian, 765 Asian, 15 Native Hawaiian, and 499 from two or more races.
