Briscoe County is a one of the county from Texas's 254 counties, located in Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. Briscoe County had an official population of 1790 in 2000. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 1462, making it the 14th least populous county in Texas. The county extends throughout a territory of 901.59 sq mi (2335.11 sq km ), of which, 900.25 square miles (2331.64 sq km) of it is land and 1.33 square miles (3.44 sq km) of it is water, it is the 161st largest by area in the U.S. state of Texas.

The population density was 2 people per square mile (0.77/kmē), it is the 22nd least densely populated county in the U.S. state of Texas. There were 1006 housing units at an average density of 1.1 per square mile (0.42/kmē). The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.03. Age range in the county was well distributed with 27.1% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 22% from 25 to 44, 24.8% from 45 to 64, and 19.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.8 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 1462, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 95.01% White, 3.35% Black or African American, 0.55% American Indian, 0.07% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 1.03% from two or more races.
