The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 15028, It is 47th most populous in Missouri. The city spans an area of 15.24 mi˛ (39.47 sq km), of which, 14.57 square miles (37.74 sq km) of it is land and 0.67 square miles (1.74 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 27th largest by total area among Missouri. It is ranks 19 in the size of its inland waterways in Missouri.
