Bremen


The Bremen is the smallest in both area and population among the Federal Republic of Germany's sixteen states, with an area of 404 square kilometers (156 sq mi) and 0.66 million inhabitants. The state of Bremen consists of two separated enclaves: Bremen, officially the 'City' which is the state capital, and the city of Bremerhaven. Both are located on the River Weser. There are 1641 inhabitants living in Bremen per square kilometre.

Bremen PopulationThe population of Bremen is 663,082 (2008), of which 341,178 is female and 321,904 is male, total population down 0.13 per cent over a year earlier. In 2006, the birth rate was 8.3 per 1000. The death rate is decrease from 11.2 per 1000 in 2005 to 10.9 per 1000 in 2006. Bremen Population Ageing In 2008, Nearly 12.69 percent of the population under the age of 15, fell from 12.83 per cent over a previous year. The proportion of people aged 65 and over rose from 20.82 per cent to 21.09 per cent. Correspondingly, the median age (aged 15-64) of the population fell from 66.35 to 66.21 over the same period. The ratio of people aged under 15 and aged 65 and over to the population of working age (aged 15-64), the overall dependency ratio, increased from 507 per 1000 in 2007 to 510 per 1000 in 2008. The Sex ratio of total population is 0.943 male(s)/female.

 



Bremen is the smallest by nominal Bremen GDP : Services, Industries and AgricultureGDP and GDP (PPP) in the Germany. Its nominal GDP per capita is €38200, it is ranked as the second highest economy by nominal GDP per capita in Germany, its GDP purchasing power parity (PPP) per capita is €37100,  ranked 2nd among the Germany. Total GDP of Bremen is €25.4 billion, of which service sector contributes around 73.57%, industry 26.13%, and agriculture 0.3%. Its real annual growth rate is 2 in 2006, rose from 0.2 over a previous year. Its income of household was 22210 Euros per inhabitant in 2006. The unemployment rate has recently decreased from 16.5% in 2005 to 11.9% in 2007.

Bremen EducatiionIn 2008 there were 113 km of roadways in Bremen, including 71 km of motorways. In 2007, about 0.29 million passenger cars (equal to 440 cars per 1,000 people) and 0.31 million road good vehicles circulated on the national road network. The state railway network, in 2008 totalled 318 km of which 146 km is electrified. The state inland waterways network comprised 61 km of navigable rivers and channells. In 2006 there were approximately 3 airports, carries 1.68 million passengers, down 1.9 per cent over a year earlier.

It contributes to the rapidly increasing tourism sector, with around 0.87 million tourists arrivals in 2008. In 2007, 0.15 millions pupils and students, 23% of the total population, are in the education system. Of which, percentage of enrollment student are in, 11% pre-primary, 16% primary, 27%  lower secondary, 18% higher secondary, 4% post secondary and 24% tertiary.
