Brazos County is a county in the United States of Texas. Brazos County had an official population of 152415 in 2000. Its population was estimated at 175122 in July 2008, making it the 23rd most populous county in Texas. It covers total area of 590.29 square miles (1528.84 kmē), of which, 585.78 square miles (1517.16 kmē) of it is land and 4.51 square miles (11.68 kmē) of it is water, making it Texas's 19th smallest county by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 152415 people, 55202 households, and 30390 families residing in the county. The population density was 260.2 people per square mile (100.46/kmē), it is the 19th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Texas. There were 59023 housing units at an average density of 100.8 per square mile (38.92/kmē). The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 3.16. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 21.5% under the age of 18, 32% from 18 to 24, 26% from 25 to 44, 13.8% from 45 to 64, and 6.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 102.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.3 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 175122, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 145531 White, 18777 Black or African American, 765 American Indian, 7863 Asian, 153 Native Hawaiian, and 2033 from two or more races.
