Branchville Borough is one of the borough of Sussex County, New Jersey, located towards the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, borough's population was 845 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 814, giving it the 24th smallest population among New Jersey. It has total area of 0.59 square miles (1.53 sq km), making it the 27th smallest by size in New Jersey.

As of the census of 2000, there were 845 people, 457 households, and 284 families living in the borough. The population density was 1421.6 people per square mile (548.88/kmē), it is 113th least densely populated borough in New Jersey. There were 377 housing units at an average density of 639 per square mile (246.72/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.37 persons, and the average family size was 3.03 persons. In the borough the population was distributed as follows: 24% under the age of 18, 4.5% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 27% from 45 to 64, and 18.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 87.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.4 males. The median age was 41.7 years, the median age of male residents at 40.4 and the median age of female residents at 42.5. The racial makeup of the borough was 98.46% White, 0.12% Black or African American, 0.36% American Indian, 0.36% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 0.59% from two or more races and 0.12% Other races.
