Boyle County is a county located in Kentucky, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 27697. Its population was estimated at 28933 in July 2008, It is 38th most populous county in Kentucky. The county encompasses an area of 182.99 sq mi (473.94 sq km ), of which, 181.9 square miles (471.12 sq km) of it is land and 1.09 square miles (2.82 sq km) of it is water, making it the tenth smallest by size in Kentucky.

As of the census of 2000, there were 27697 people in the county, organized into 10574 households, and 7345 families living in the county. The population density was 152.3 people per square mile (58.8/kmē), it is the 15th most populated county in terms of population density. There were 11418 housing units at an average density of 62.8 per square mile (24.25/kmē). The average household size was 2.38 people, and the average family size was 2.87 people. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 22.7% under the age of 18, 11% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 14.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 28933, The racial makeup of the county was 25499 White, 2672 Black or African American, 117 American Indian, 274 Asian, 11 Native Hawaiian, and 360 from two or more races.
