Box Butte County, Nebraska is a county located in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 12158. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 11043, giving it the 22nd largest population among Nebraska's county. It is spread over 1077.84 square miles (2791.59 sq km), of which, 1075.29 square miles (2784.99 sq km ) of it is land and 2.54 square miles (6.58 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 14th largest by total area in Nebraska.
