Bourbon County is a county located in Kentucky, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. It is home to over 19360 people (2000 census). The July 2008 population estimate is 19828, making it Kentucky's 56th largest county. The county spans an area of 291.66 square miles (755.4 sq km), of which, 291.43 square miles (754.8 sq km) of it is land and 0.23 square miles (0.6 sq km) of it is water, making it Kentucky's 67th largest county by total area.

The population density was 66.4 people per square mile (25.64/kmē), it is the 55th most populated county in terms of population density. There were 8349 housing units at an average density of 28.6 per square mile (11.04/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.49 persons, and the average family size was 2.95 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 25% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 24.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 19828, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 18213 White, 1278 Black or African American, 31 American Indian, 93 Asian, 2 Native Hawaiian, and 211 from two or more races.
