Bourbon County is a county located in Kansas, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 15379 as per the Census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 14851, It is Kansas's 34th most populous county. The county comprises an area of 638.82 square miles (1654.54 sq km), of which, 637.09 square miles (1650.06 sq km) of it is land and 1.73 square miles (4.48 sq km) of it is water, it is the 26th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Kansas.

In the county Age distribution was 25.8% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 24.2% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 18.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.5 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 14851, The racial makeup of the county was 93.6% White, 3.5% Black or African American, 0.96% American Indian, 0.39% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, and 1.5% from two or more races.
