Botetourt County is a county located in Virginia, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. It is home to over 30496 people (2000 census). Its population was estimated at 32261 in July 2008, It is Virginia's 55th most populous county. Its area is just over 545.94 sq mi (1413.98 sq km), of which, 542.66 square miles (1405.48 sq km) of it is land and 3.28 square miles (8.5 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 17th largest by total area among Virginia's county.
