Bosque County is a county in the United States of Texas. It is home to over 17204 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the estimated population was 17760, making it the 127th most populous county in Texas. It is spread over 1002.63 square miles (2596.8 square kilometre), of which, 989.18 square miles (2561.96 square kilometre ) of it is land and 13.46 square miles (34.86 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 81st largest by total area among Texas's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 17204 people in the county, organized into 6726 households, and 4854 families residing in the county. The population density was 17.4 people per square mile (6.72/kmē), it would be the 141st most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Texas. There were 8644 housing units at an average density of 8.7 per square mile (3.36/kmē). The average household size was 2.48 persons, and the average family size was 2.95 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 24.4% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 23.8% from 25 to 44, 25% from 45 to 64, and 20.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.3 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 17760, The racial makeup of the county was 16923 White, 489 Black or African American, 105 American Indian, 32 Asian, 6 Native Hawaiian, and 205 from two or more races.
