Boone County is a county located in Missouri, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 135454 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 154365, making it the eighth most populous county in Missouri. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 691.31 square miles (1790.48 kmē), of which, 685.43 square miles (1775.26 kmē) of it is land and 5.88 square miles (15.23 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 34th largest by total area among Missouri's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 135454 people, 53094 households, and 31391 families residing in the county. The population density was 197.6 people per square mile (76.29/kmē), making its Missouri's ninth most densely populated county. There were 56678 housing units at an average density of 82.7 per square mile (31.93/kmē). The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.97. The population's age distribution was 22.8% under the age of 18, 19.9% from 18 to 24, 29.9% from 25 to 44, 18.8% from 45 to 64, and 8.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.9 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 154365, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 85.73% White, 8.73% Black or African American, 0.45% American Indian, 3.23% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 1.82% from two or more races.
