Boone County is a one of the county from Kentucky's 120 counties, located in Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 85991. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 115231, It is the fourth largest in terms of population. The county extends throughout a territory of 256.96 square miles (665.52 square kilometre ), of which, 246.26 square miles (637.81 square kilometre) of it is land and 10.7 square miles (27.71 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Kentucky's 38th smallest county by total area.

The population density was 349.2 people per square mile (134.83/kmē), it is fifth most densely populated county in Kentucky. There were 33351 housing units at an average density of 135.4 per square mile (52.28/kmē). The average household size was 2.73 persons, and the average family size was 3.17 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 28.7% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 33.5% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 8.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.7 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 115231, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 93.73% White, 2.92% Black or African American, 0.24% American Indian, 2.03% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 1.04% from two or more races.
