Boone County is a one of the county from Indiana's 92 counties, located in Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 46107. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 55027, It is Indiana's 27th most populous county. The county has a total area of 423.28 sq mi (1096.29 kmē), of which, 422.85 square miles (1095.18 kmē) of it is land and 0.42 square miles (1.09 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 29th largest by total area in Indiana.

The population density was 109 people per square mile (42.09/kmē), it is the 33rd most populated county in terms of population density. There were 17929 housing units at an average density of 42.4 per square mile (16.37/kmē). The average household size was 2.65 persons, and the average family size was 3.09 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 28.3% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 11.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.9 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 55027, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 96.11% White, 1.44% Black or African American, 0.25% American Indian, 1.41% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 0.78% from two or more races.
