Bonne Terre City is a one of the St. Francois County, Missouri, located in Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. Bonne Terre City had an official population of 4039 in 2000. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 6854, making it Missouri's 159th largest. The city extends throughout a territory of 4.11 mi˛ (10.64 sq km ), of which, 4.04 square miles (10.46 sq km) of it is land and 0.07 square miles (0.18 sq km) of it is water, it is the 149th largest by area in the U.S. state of Missouri.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4039 people, 1554 households, and 1063 families living in the city. The population density was 1000 people per square mile (386.1/km˛), it is the 417th most populated city in terms of population density.
