Blount County is one of the 67 county of Alabama, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. The county has a population of 51024 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 57441, making it Alabama's 22nd largest county. It covers total area of 650.6 sq mi (1685.05 sq km), of which, 645.59 square miles (1672.07 sq km) of it is land and 5.02 square miles (13 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 41st largest by total area among Alabama's county.

As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 57441, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 55294 White, 1227 Black or African American, 316 American Indian, 106 Asian, 12 Native Hawaiian, and 486 from two or more races.
