Bledsoe County is a county located in Tennessee, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 12367 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 13142, making it the 14th least populous county in Tennessee. It covers total area of 406.71 mi˛ (1053.37 sq km), of which, 406.32 square miles (1052.36 sq km) of it is land and 0.4 square miles (1.04 sq km) of it is water, it is the 58th largest by area in the U.S. state of Tennessee.

As of the census of 2000, there were 12367 people in the county, organized into 4430 households, and 3312 families living in the county. The population density was 30.4 people per square mile (11.74/km˛), giving it the sixth least densely populated county among the Tennessee. There were 5142 housing units at an average density of 12.7 per square mile (4.9/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.53 persons, and the average family size was 2.94 persons. In the county Age distribution was 23.1% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 31.3% from 25 to 44, 25.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 121 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 121.3 males. Its population was estimated at 13142 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 12428 White, 499 Black or African American, 50 American Indian, 14 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, and 148 from two or more races.
