Bland County is a county in the United States of Virginia. As of 2000 the population was 6871. The July 2008 population estimate is 6918, It is Virginia's 12th least populous county. It covers total area of 358.73 square miles (929.11 sq km), of which, 358.67 square miles (928.95 sq km) of it is land and 0.06 square miles (0.16 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 56th largest by total area among Virginia's county.


As of the census of 2000, there were 6871 people in the county, organized into 2568 households, and 1907 families living in the county. The population density was 19.2 people per square mile (7.41/kmē), making its Virginia's fourth least densely populated county. There were 3161 housing units at an average density of 8.8 per square mile (3.4/kmē). The average household size was 2.43 people, and the average family size was 2.85 people. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 19.4% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 27.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 119.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 121.9 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 6918, The racial makeup of the county was 94.71% White, 4.58% Black or African American, 0.09% American Indian, 0.12% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 0.49% from two or more races.
