Blaine County is one of the 93 county of Nebraska, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. It is home to over 583 people (2000 census). The July 2008 population estimate is 428, giving it the second smallest population among Nebraska's county. The county spans an area of 714.34 square miles (1850.13 square kilometre), of which, 710.74 square miles (1840.81 square kilometre) of it is land and 3.59 square miles (9.3 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Nebraska's 38th largest county by total area.


According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 583 people, 238 households, and 169 families residing in the county. The population density was 0.8 people per square mile (0.31/kmē), making it the fourth least densely populated county in Nebraska. There were 333 housing units at an average density of 0.5 per square mile (0.19/kmē). The average household size was 2.45 persons, and the average family size was 2.98 persons. In the Blaine County, 26.2% of the population was under the age of 18, 3.9% were 18 to 24, 26.6% were 25 to 44, 26.4% were 45 to 64, and 16.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 101.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.9 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 428, The racial makeup of the county was 98.36% White, 0% Black or African American, 0.7% American Indian, 0% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.93% from two or more races.
