Blaine County is one of the 56 county of Montana, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. The county has a population of 7009 as per the 2000 census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 6491, It is the 30th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Montana. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 4238.92 square miles (10978.75 kmē), of which, 4226.18 square miles (10945.76 kmē) of it is land and 12.74 square miles (33 kmē) of it is water, giving it the ninth largest by total area among Montana's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7009 people, 2501 households, and 1794 families living in the county. The population density was 1.7 people per square mile (0.66/kmē), making it the 37th most densely populated county in Montana. There were 2947 housing units at an average density of 0.7 per square mile (0.27/kmē). The average household size was 2.78 people, and the average family size was 3.36 people. In the county Population was distributed with 32.6% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 24.8% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 12.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.3 males. Its population was estimated at 6491 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 3107 White, 20 Black or African American, 3213 American Indian, 22 Asian, 2 Native Hawaiian, and 127 from two or more races.
