Black Mountain Town is a town in the Buncombe County, North Carolina, United States. Black Mountain Town had an official population of 7511 in 2000. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 7877, It is the 88th largest by population in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The town extends throughout a territory of 6.46 square miles (16.73 sq km ), of which, 6.44 square miles (16.68 sq km) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 127th largest by total area among North Carolina.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7511 residents, 3340 households, and 2027 families in the town.
