Birmingham City is a city located in Oakland County, Michigan, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. Birmingham City had an official population of 19291 in 2000. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 18932, It is 69th most populous in Michigan. Its area is just over 4.79 square miles (12.41 kmē), of which, 4.78 square miles (12.38 kmē) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 kmē) of it is water, it is the 152nd largest by area in the U.S. state of Michigan.

As of the census of 2000, there were 19291 residents, 9131 households, and 5078 families in the city.
