Big Horn County is a United States county located in the United States of Wyoming. As of 2000 the population was 11461. In July 2008, its estimated population was 11322, It is the 15th most populous county in the U.S. state of Wyoming. The county encompasses an area of 3158.96 square miles (8181.67 kmē ), of which, 3136.99 square miles (8124.77 kmē) of it is land and 21.97 square miles (56.9 kmē) of it is water, it is the 13th largest by area in the U.S. state of Wyoming. It is ranks tenth in the size of its inland waterways in Wyoming.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 11461 residents, 4312 households, and 3087 families in the county. The population density was 3.7 people per square mile (1.43/kmē), it is Wyoming's 12th most densely populated county. There were 5105 housing units at an average density of 1.6 per square mile (0.62/kmē). The average household size was 2.6 people, and the average family size was 3.13 people. In the Big Horn County, 28.7% of the population was under the age of 18, 7.3% were 18 to 24, 22.6% were 25 to 44, 24.6% were 45 to 64, and 16.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.1 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 11322, The racial makeup of the county was 97.54% White, 0.19% Black or African American, 0.91% American Indian, 0.3% Asian, 0.07% Native Hawaiian, and 0.99% from two or more races.
