Bexar County is a United States county located in the United States of Texas. It is home to over 1392931 people (2000 census). It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 1622899, It is fourth most populous county in Texas. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1256.66 sq mi (3254.73 square kilometre), of which, 1246.82 square miles (3229.25 square kilometre) of it is land and 9.84 square miles (25.49 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Texas's 37th largest county by total area.

The population density was 1117.2 people per square mile (431.35/kmē), it would be the fourth most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Texas. There were 521359 housing units at an average density of 418.1 per square mile (161.43/kmē). The average household size was 2.78 persons, and the average family size was 3.33 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 28.5% under the age of 18, 10.7% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 19.9% from 45 to 64, and 10.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 1622899, The racial makeup of the county was 1413219 White, 125417 Black or African American, 18353 American Indian, 35602 Asian, 3090 Native Hawaiian, and 27218 from two or more races.
