Bessemer City is a city located in Gogebic County, Michigan, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. It is home to over 2148 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the estimated population was 1846, It is the 301st largest by population in the U.S. state of Michigan. Its area is just over 5.47 mi˛ (14.17 sq km), making it the 134th largest by size in Michigan.

The racial makeup of the city was 2081 White, 3 Black or African American, 26 American Indian, 9 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, 19 from two or more races and 9 Ohter races.
