Bessemer Borough is a United States borough located in the Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, United States. As per the 2000 census, borough has a population of 1172 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 1096, It is the 826th most populous in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It has total area of 1.73 sq mi (4.48 kmē), of which, 1.67 square miles (4.33 kmē) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 kmē) of it is water, it is the 450th largest by area in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1172 residents, 480 households, and 345 families in the borough. The population density was 701.1 people per square mile (270.7/kmē), it is the 314th least populated borough in terms of population density. There were 496 housing units at an average density of 297 per square mile (114.67/kmē). The average household size was 2.44 persons, and the average family size was 2.91 persons. In the borough the population was spread out, with 22.3% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 28% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 21.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 89.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.6 males. The median age is 40.3 years, The median age of males was 38.9 years, for females the median age was 42 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the borough was 98.55% White, 0.51% Black or African American, 0% American Indian, 0.43% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 0.51% from two or more races and 0% Other races.
